Goldwork Embroidery Kit

The embroidery design measures 6cm x 13.5cm wide (5 ¼" x 2 3/8").

The small panel, Summers Glow is embroidered onto dusty mauve silk fabric. The design is worked using a variety of metallic threads and wires, highlighted with vibrant coloured silk threads.

The embroidery kit includes everything you need for the embroidery.

You have the option to transfer the design yourself using the full-size pattern in the Standard Kit or choose a Traced Kit with the design hand drawn onto the silk.

YOU WILL ALSO NEED :

  • 30cm (12") square stretcher frame and thumb tacks

    OR 25cm (10") good quality embroidery hoop, inner ring bound

  • Good quality beeswax

  • Sharp pointed scissor for cutting metal threads

  • Pointed tweezers

  • Weight or clamp

  • Sharp lead pencil

    Helpful but not essential:

  • Velvet covered board

  • Dressmaker’s awl or mellor

** Intermediate Beginner **

Summers Glow is designed as an INTRODUCTION to metal thread embroidery and is embroidered using a small selection of basic goldwork techniques.

This project is a great choice if you have little or no prior experience with metal thread embroidery. However, I recommend you have some experience with general surface embroidery.
